新年快樂

其實今天己經大年初二,

但是還是寫一下好了..

這是我第一個中國年在國外過喔..



雖然, 我很喜歡到處玩,

但是, 過年還是希望和家人過

除夕那天, 起床之後過一小時就打電話回家




家裡面正在吃年夜飯,

和大家聊完家常之後,

突然覺得自己吃Cereal的感覺很怪

是不會難過啦..

只是很想和家人一起吃飯..

畢竟手足都在外縣巿工作,

真的要一起吃飯的話..就是只有過年的時侯才會有了吧

圍爐..

就還是要和家人一起啊~~



當天晚上, 和室友一起過..

大家還是很用心地準備菜,

我也是去indoor market買鮭魚頭做砂鍋魚頭.. (第一次做)

魚頭很麻煩, 要自己去鰓..在國外, 要吃便宜的海鮮就得自己動手啦~

學長們準備鹽酥雞,薄荷羊小排, 麻婆豆腐


我們這裡有筍絲焢肉, 炒豆子, 蝦醬高麗菜, 寧波年糕, 燙芥蘭, 三杯雞

很多很多菜..



想家人,想朋友

想去年,朋友從澳洲,台北回來, 大家出去吃飯

光吃飯就好幾攤了

I went to conversation and reading English literature today.


Today's topic is 'English Politics'





We talked about 'Labour party', 'Lory (conservative party)', 'Liberal democrat'


MP: Member of parliament


How they elect their MP in each constituancies.





The Prime minister: Mr. Tony Blair's constituancy is in County Durham.


Isn't it fantastic?





Northern England and Scotland tranditionally support the Labour party, still now.


Southern England where 'money' is, they tranditionally vote to 'the Lary'. However, Labour party still in power, I am afraid.





I asked about the Politics in Northern Ireland. Louise answered, well...


Unionists support untied with GB, however, there are some poeple vote to 'the Sinnfein', they are the IRA in politic form. She mentioned that until last year, the Sinnfien were not allowed enter the Parliament in England.





Next, we read a abstract of a novel 'Sataurday' by Ian MaKwan', the day of the anti-war protests in London. The novel for me is a little bit difficult when I first read them. Unlike my classmates, they can read very quickly. I guess because they are PhD students or visiting doctoral.





I like this class very much. I am lucky to have a such good English teacher when I am in Durham.

Cross-culture issue in Durham

There was a seminar in my college, Ustinov, was called Intercultural Forum. It discussed about cross-cultural communication and experience. One professor from the Education school, he designed a good autobiography for foreign students in the UK. Through the autobiography, you can exam yourself about your cross-cultural experience.





The topic is really interesting and very touching. As you know, it is a little bit difficult to make ‘real’ friend with English; I didn’t mean anything. My English classmates are nice and friendly; however, because of cultural difference, we rarely can discuss anything in depth. The conversation always limited in weather or schooling. Not only Chinese has this feeling, so does European, Japanese. Because we use different language, the line is difficult to cross.





My classmates and I have a formative proposal, we want to do some research about foreign students study in the UK, especially about cross-cultural communication and their motivation. Therefore, I read several journals about Education, Cross-cultural issue, cultural adaptation, etc.





I read this and understand other foreign students more. In fact, I started to attend a in-session course ‘Speak and reading about English culture’, because I like the lecturer a lot and she is friendly. I hope I can know more about English culture from a real English lady.





I may leave here soon, but I don’t want to leave without any memory.

I had a great concert last night.


Durham University has a music department and often hold some small concert or performance.





Last night, DUOS Durham University Orchestral Society presented





Chicavsky - the Nutcraker suite

I like to listen to classical music, but I rarely go to concert when I was in Taiwan.


The ticket sometimes is too expensive. Luckily, I am in Durham, they often carried out music concert.


Local residents and students enjoy them a lot.





I had a concert in March, it was hold in Durham Cathedral. It was big space, so I can't see many, just listening


the music only. But this time, I sit just in front of those musicians, I can see their face, each postures,


when they wait for next rythm. I enjoyed the concert last time very much.





Castle great hall is situated in Durham castle, being part of University college. It is listed in World heritage.


Even though I am a student in Durham University, I still can't going their without permission. Of cause, we can't


take photo there.

走得好累的一週

走得好累的一週

從上個星期六就是走得很累的一週,


星期六好不容易抽個空, 買了學長姐們推薦的公車一日券


坐到Duhram retailer park, 那裡有不少好店, 每次幾乎都是流血出來 =.=


Tesco, TK Maxx, Aldi


不好意思啊, 鄉下地方有這些就己經很好了





買了十大袋的東西, 和室友轉了一班公車才回到家


放了東西之後, 又衝去Newcastle 的Metro centre逛街


買了一日券就是要好好地這樣利用啊~~


結果, 才買了一頂Oasis的帽子 6 pounds, 還是沒買到Graduate ball的禮服


弄到快十點才到家





星期日, 去Ustinov college, 因為每個星期日都會有一台車子載東方食物來賣


主要是大陸的食材啦..比Tesco, Waitrose賣得便宜, 但是比newcastle中國城貴





星期一, 從九點連上二堂lecture 再加一堂seminar


草草吃完從家裡帶的三明治, 往山下出發


因為要買Graduate ball的衣服,


後來在Monsoon買到了, 在去Waitrose的途中, 看到Miss selfridge又進去逛


買了一件黑色小洋裝,


大家猜一下多少錢?

















5 pounds


室友本來也想買, 但是沒她的size了, 真可惜


呵~~ 真高興,


後來, 去了Durham的indoor market逛,


還看到修改衣服的太太, 修改禮服的長度才7 pounds


買得很高興 ^+++^





星期二, 三都還是得去downtown 上語言課程,


因為上lecture其實講不太到英文, 所以就想多講一些英文


來回要走一個小時





星期四, 記錯上課教室 >_<


趁著二堂lecture的時間, 來回三十分鐘去library還書


回到 business school吃三明治時, 沒人在IT suite


才知道他們沒改教室,


又飛奔了十五分鐘到library 上課


差點沒喘死...


後來, 又拖著重重的脚步回到business school 拿水瓶


(走得時侯太忙, 沒拿到)





星期五, 快被MA office的人氣死


上午在education school 上課,


下課後一小時要在business school 上seminar


之後還要走到Garrod room上Strategic marketing management


完了之後, 還要等一個小時上serminar >_<





之後更慘,


一小時的時間要從education school 走到Science site (library)上seminar


再來十五分鐘之內要到Garrod room就坐,


寫信去 '表達'沒車學生的困難, office回說, 你可以 '邊走邊吃'


我很想跟他們說

1.2很不禮貌


1.3很不健康的行為





尤其是south road 車很多, 我非常不想吃灰





我不在非洲, 叫我在非洲吃灰塵我接受, 那裡你沒辦法選擇





我在"developed country"!!!!

我的巴黎行流產~~

我的巴黎行流產~~

唉,


這篇沒辦法放遊記, 因為根本就沒去
其實, 託Angel之福,我的申根是14/March才到期

不巧的是, 我Easter holiday 是17號開始,
所以我沒辦法在Easter 去南法找Mia




Term 2才八星期的課, 非常的重
我想維持這blog, 不想讓它變月記或是週記 =.=

想說好吧,
下定決心要翹一堂Small business
結果, 課調來調去, Seminar的課表出來了

我還是不死心, 一直看課表, 試著要補seminar




後來, Mia確定三月初到Dundee, Scotland
(聽起來有沒有很熟? 我之前想去唸的globalisation就是這學校開的)

那我也沒辦法, 不過, 還是不死心, 想說那我改去巴黎好了
可以從newcastle搭, 更近



結果Easy jet的時間很差, 不是很早就是很晚,
沒有火車的結果就是我又要睡車站/機場了!!

想想, 嗚~~ 平常在Durham就己經熬夜得很慘了
那, 我出去玩還弄得很累,

回來不就不用唸書了...
( 心裡想歸想, 手還是在easy jet的網站逛來逛去)

有四堂課都要meeting, 還有simulation

要是我一次meeting沒到, 我想我會內疚死的...
大家會想, 天哪, 快學期末了, 居然有人還敢去巴黎玩



唉, 等論文交了再說吧~~
希望, 我六月可以出去玩啊!!
